only in ny #11: oaxaca.

snack: potato y poblano taco
drink: jarritos toronja

when it comes to food, i often go through phases. over the past year or so, i've gone through a dumpling phase, a sushi phase, a stir-fry phase & a burger phase. basically, during these phases, whenever i eat out i try to get that type of food & whenever i'm at home cooking, i'm trying to replicate my favorite dishes from when i eat out. these days i'm knee-deep in a taco phase, or what a trained pyschologist may describe as a taco "fixation." i always have a bag of corn tortillas in the fridge & a few limes at the ready. when i stayed in astoria this past weekend watching the pooches, i made a point to go to el rey del taco truck. for the last three weeks, i haven't gone more than two days without eating a taco.

snack away #13 - my puerto rican last meal.

another week, another new guest blogger! today we've got a TOTALLY INTERNATIONAL post from the eatinist bitch, who heeded my call for guest bloggers just days before she left NYC for a few days vacation in puerto rico. she was all "i'll write something about the snacks & drinks down there" & since i don't have a budget to fly columnists to puerto rico, i was totally for the idea. so yeah. enjoy & read her blog & stuff. it's the eatinist, bitch.

so i went to puerto rico two weeks ago in a stunning display of last minute traveling and proceeded to have one of the best vacations ever. i could go on forever about the landscape and the people...but you know the only thing that matters is the food.

seeing as that my friends flew back a day early, my last day in isabella (the town i stayed in) was spent by my lonesome. i wanted something tasty and quick for my last meal there and i knew something tasty would be found at the beach front plaza, villa pesquera. there are a ton of little restaurants and bars, but i picked one stand that i had been eying during my stay. i can't remember its name but i can damn sure remember what i got...

snackdown! - 7.25.11

happy monday everyone! it looks like the democrats & republicans down in d.c. haven't figured out what to do about the pesky debt ceiling. luckily, nfl owners & players have been able to get it together & agreed on a deal, meaning that there will be a football season come september. the only thing that could stop it now is if our elected officials can't reach an agreement about how to fix the debt issue & the economy goes spiraling into the ground, causing financial chaos that will result in the cancellation of the nfl season. that's right, americans. john boehner and/or harry reid want to take away your football.

it's been a week of chaos in the food world as well, with protests & recalls & insect addictions & life imitating art & a vegetarian lawsuit. are we going to hell in a handbasket? probably. will it be a tasty ride? probably. oh well...let's snackdown!

snapple whore.

friends, family, constituents...thank you for reading today. last week, some of you may have heard the rumors about my recent beverage consumption. i've come here today to inform you that these rumors are true. i've been having relations with snapple lemon tea. this hot, sweaty summer has been a difficult time for me in my struggle against caffeine consumption & over the past few months, i've succumb to the pressures, drinking more snapple then i probably should.
